I think I have one of the first Mongoose Juneau s sold and have had it for a few days now. I was looking for something between the cheaper Mongoose fat tire bikes and the more expensive Mongoose Argus line. This one fit the bill. It is a decent enough starting point for some upgrading while getting a aluminum frame and drilled wheelset. I was surprised that the frame and fork are made from 6061 aluminum, not the cheaper 7000 series. Some tubes are hydroformed and others are sculpted or straight. The square taper bottom bracket is a sealed bearing unit, but all other bearings are older style rebuildable parts with grease installed, unlike some of the cheaper Mongooses . Hubs are aluminum with rougher bearings but should work fine. Rear hub is a screw on freewheel type, but 9 and 10 speed freewheels are available. My tool did not fit the freewheel, so if you plan on upgrading you will need a freewheel tool for a falcon freewheel. Crankset seems good with aluminum arms and steel chainrings. I ditched the big ring because I did not use it and it was heavy. Tires are not bad, and about 1430 g. apiece tread pattern is identical to panaracer fat b nimble . Pedals are poor quality plastic, and the seatpost is really heavy. Saddle is not too bad. Stem and bars are great and light, but I wish the bars were a little wider. Breaks are OK, we will see how they are after a long break in. Drivetrain is low end as one would expect on a 420 dollar bike. With a few mods and parts this should turn out to be a great snow bike. Out of the box weight was a low 36.6 pounds with reflectors and packaging removed. After a ghetto tubeless conversion, dropping the big ring and a lighter seatpost the bike is down to 33.4 LB., with all other components stock, including tires. Next on the list is a 10x2 speed drivetrain using existing crank and front derailleur, new pedals and brake levers. All in all a good inexpensive bike you can use out of the box or improve with a few better parts to make a really great fat bike.Read full 62 ratings for Mongoose Juneau 26-Inch Fat Tire Bike at Amazon Reviews
