I hate long reviews so Ill try to keep it short. 1st off I am changing the name of another company. We will call them St Crapx. At 140 for a heavy pole that lasted 2 seasons before it broke off inside itself from casting a 3 4 oz crank bait compared to 40 medium heavy Shakespeare that shame on me I literally tried to break the same way.I have broken 2 St Crapx in 2 years. My St Crapx MOFO snapped right above the handle tugging on a snag. At 8 6 and very thin you wouldn t expect it to be stronger than the St Crapx but its stupid stronger. I got some cannon ball sinkers 4oz. Thats way to heavy to be casting 220 feet. I whip them as hard and far as I can. This Shakespeare handles it fine. In fact, I caught a 13 drum, maybe 1 1 2 lbs. cast that thing out for Musky. I do not recommend anyone abuse their equipment and I normally dont but when you break a 140 pole on a 3 4 oz bait you kinda wanna see if this thin flimsy 40 pole will break anywhere near as easy. It did not These poles held up to everything I threw at them. Even caught a 42 Musky in 90 degree weather so I had to crank it in hard and fast so I could release it without wearing it out. Shakespeare didn t complain or break doing anything that I would consider abuse. PLEASE don t abuse your poles but know even though they are thin and light, man are they strong . Now the bad news. They are not as sensitive as St Crapx. I don t feel that matters much as long as they get the job done. My only real complaint is Amazon does not hire fisherman to work in shipping so they dont know that if a pole gets scratched it weakens the pole. They really need to pack them better. A thin baggy covering half the pole bouncing around in a 4x4 box and they might be getting hurt in shipping though I have bought 3 and so far so good.
